Sjoerd Bax sprints to victory in seventh stage of Tour de Langkawi

Sjoerd Bax has won the seventh stage of Tour de Langkawi. He beat Willie Smit in the final sprint and secured the victory.


The race saw an aggressive start and Carlos Barbero was first to establish gap. But couldn't stay in the lead for long. Then after riding for some 30 kilometres Adria Moreno, Willie Smit and Nicol Pareja managed to successfully breakaway from the peloton. The trio gained a lead of 4 minutes and 20 seconds.

With 30 kilometres to go, Movistar sent their men to catch the breakaway. Riders from other team also joined.
Tree, Uga, Da Silva, Bax, Drizners, Moscon, Jorgenson, Bennett, Izagirre, Main, Camargo, Tagliani and Fuentes tried their best but only Bax caught up with the trio.



A chaotic sprint ensued in the final kilometre and Bax came out on top. He crossed the finish line first and won the stage.
Smit satisfied himself with silver while Adria Moreno Sala finished third.
