Profile Druivenkoers - Overijse 2022

The Belgian semi-classics calendar continues with the Druivenkoers - Overijse on the 24th of August, which will see the peloton take on a sharp and explosive circuit which will make for exciting racing in the streets of the 2021 Leuven World championships and Brabantse Pijl.

The race is 192 kilometers long just like the Egmont Cycling Race which takes place the previous day. However it is much more selective, as the riders will be spending the day around the town of Overijse and will include climbs and cobbled sectors that are well known within the Belgian circuit.

The three laps of an explosive and treacherous circuit are where the race will be decided. There will be a long flat section inbetween the explosive part, but that one will include a total of six small bergs, two of which include cobbles. They finish with 29.5, 24.5, 20.5, 14.5, 12 and 6.5 kilometers to go respectively, giving very little room to recover, and also little room to organize a chase - which can see early attacks succeed and into victory.

The final ascent is the cobbled Moskesstraat with 500 meters at 8%, and should be the final location to create meaningful gaps. From there on there is a small plateau and then a small descent back into the center of Overijse for the finale.
