'Best of the Rest' Adam Yates admits "it's hard to follow" when Jonas Vingegaard attacks

Finishing second on stage 7 of the Critérium du Dauphiné, Adam Yates put in a good performance. Eventual stage winner, Jonas Vingegaard though was simply on another level as Yates himself admits.

"When those guys attack like they're riding a bunch sprint, it's hard to follow. They go so fast," says the 30-year-old UAE Team Emirates rider in his post-stage interview, referencing both Vingegaard and Yates' own teammate Tadej Pogacar. “I tried to ride my pace and although Jonas got further and further away, I got the best out of it. The team also rode well, so I can't complain."

With Vingegaard looking in supreme form ahead of the upcoming Tour de France, Yates and the rest of the general classification riders at the Critérium du Dauphiné's chances of taking a stage win on the final day of the race tomorrow look unlikely.

"That is possible, but you saw how Jumbo-Visma drove today, that was very good. They'll do the same tomorrow, I suspect," Yates concludes.
